Welcome to Makepeace Studio CIC, where creativity meets sustainability in the heart of South Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Founded by me, Abi Makepeace, the studio is dedicated to sharing the art of sustainable textiles with our community.

My focus is on teaching sewing and slow fashion techniques, emphasizing beauty, wearability, and the use of sustainable materials. I believe in creating garments with love, fostering an ethical wardrobe that reflects our values.

I'm a film and photography graduate from the Royal College
of Art. I have exhibited worldwide, winning awards and participating in numerous art residencies, including a three-month stint in China. Witnessing a river turn bright purple from textile factory waste in China sparked my awareness of fast fashion's environmental impact.

During the 2021 Coronavirus lockdown, I delved into textiles, discovering its therapeutic benefits for mental well-being.
This inspired me to share this creative outlet with others.

My practice explores the intersection of people and environment, examining how community narratives intertwine with landscapes, shaping our sense of place and identity. You can read more about my art practice here.
