Experiential 'Pattern Drawing' workshop for IWD

Artist, long time collaborator and dear friend Gilly Booth and I have been selected to jointly facilitate one of three workshops taking place on International Woman’s Day at Y Stiwdio Hermon with Space to Create as part if Making New Connections - a creative sharing day for women artists in West Wales. 

Our interdisciplinary workshop involves creating a pattern from an object that participants bring along with them, using pins, pencils, tracing paper and tape, to create a 2D drawing that can be expanded in a variety of forms including sculpture, film, textiles, print and drawing. The focus is to experiment with mark making and follow they're corresponding directions to see where we end up. A creative, visual journey of sorts. 

Materials will include:

tracing paper, pins, pencils, chalk, tape, ink, brushes, sticks.

Available media:

camera/tripod, laptop, printer, sewing machine, cotton, typewriter.

This workshop will be part of Making New Connections – a creative sharing day for women artists in West Wales. 

The focus of the event is for individual artists who identify as female to share their own arts practice, as well as providing an opportunity for artists to submit an idea with an artist from another discipline, for the joint facilitation of an experiential creative workshop.   

The day will comprise of a morning of Pecha Kucha presentations by eight artists, a shared lunch, followed by three participatory creative interdisciplinary workshops in the afternoon. There is also an open call for artists to attend the event as participants.
